WELCOME TO THE DŌBUTSU NO MORI COLLAB!

OR THE ANIMAL CROSSING MOVIE REANIMATED!


Hard-core AC fans will know about the smash hit Dōbutsu no Mori movie that made 1.7 billion yen at the box office. Directed by Jōji Shimura and distributed by TOHO.


The plot centers around Ai, a human girl who has moved into the beautiful and sunny town of the animal village, there she meets new friends, faces challenges, and together, finds their own dreams.


This movie has a special place in my heart and that’s why I’m reaching out to animators and creators to take part in this non-profit collaboration and bring fresh new life to this forgotten yet well-received feature film.


So let’s get started, yes yes?

. The scene number

. The timeStamp

. Your name (real or nickname)

. Social media or website (and a little portfolio)

. Why you want to contribute

. And your workflow


We will review for approval. Once that’s done you can get to work. Some of the info will be for the credits.



SO WHAT’S MY JOB?

Animate the scene you’ve chosen within the timeframe. Any art medians are welcomed as well as any skill level.

. Digital

. Traditional

. Papercraft

. Claymation

. Stop motion

. You name it!


Of course, there are requirements and restrictions that you must follow.

. NO Pornografic imagery / NSFW

. NO Hate speech, racial or homophobic

. Any Characters outside of the AC franchise are fine as long as they make sense

in your scene.

.It’s your creative freedom what the tone of your scene will be.

(Serious and true to form, silly and meme-ish, or a combination of both.)

. The dimensions should be at least 720P (the YouTube minimum)

. 24FPS at least

. You can work on many scenes if you like, as long as you have them in their final form.


Once you have a finished product send these 2 MP4 to the same email as before.

  1. Your clip with movie audio
  2. Your clip without movie audio
  3. We would recommend sending through Dropbox, Wetransfer, or other sending services.

Make sure you label them correctly.

Once again we will review it and approve it.


Some scenes will have some extra work we’ll have you do, like still images or transparent background. If so, we’ll respond to your email.



SO WHAT’S NEXT?


Since everyone has a different workflow, there is no real deadline, but will be checked often to see the progress.


And yes, uploading WIPs and final animations to social media is OK, Include the Hashtag #ACMovieRemake.


After compiling the clips, editing, and rendering, a release date will be announced. 


This reanimated will be split into 2 45-minute videos. P1 and P2 mean Part 1 and Part 2 in the spreadsheet.


It’s anyone’s guess on how long this will take. So In the meantime, we encourage you to spread the word about this project. You or anyone you know who loves the Animal Crossing games can support this project. This is 100% non-profit, you’re doing this for the love of this series and from the bottom of your heart.

 ATTENTION! WE NEED THE NEXT K.K. SLIDER! I don't need to explain everything you already know, we're recreating the 2006 Animal Crossing Movie. And we're at 1/6 of claimed scenes taken by animators and fans like you, so thank you so much! But it's not always about arts and crafts, the term "RE" has another meaning to it, Remix.
